Chippa chase consistency as they eye moving up the log

Chippa United coach Thabo September said his side needed to be more consistent if they are to capitalise on Tuesday’s 2-0 away over Cape Town City and continue pushing up the Betway Premiership standings.
The double from Sinoxolo Kwayiba saw Chippa move from 13th to ninth on the table after they had seen goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali make several key saves early on in the match to keep City from scoring.
“I think it was a tough first half, especially with City pressing high, creating those opportunities, putting us into moments where we make mistakes, but luckily for us, sometimes your luck will come your way,” said September.
“The ball hits the crossbar after we made a mistake, Stanley makes a save from (Thabo) Nodada’s shot. That keeps us in the game. Once we managed to really settle in terms of defending, then we looked good on the break, especially first half.
"In the second half, I think we managed the wind. I think PE has taught us a lot, so we managed the wind better. When we scored, it eased a lot of nerves around on the field. But City gave us a good game for that and I’m just proud of the players for standing up.”
It was a sixth successive away game for Chippa, who finally return home to meet Sekhukhune United in East London on Saturday.
“The problem is that we're not consistent. That's something that we need to do better. We haven't won two games in a row this season, so that is the problem. So we need to fix that part mentally.
"But yes, it's a good positive win that leaves us, especially after the Nedbank (Cup) defeat that we got (against Kaizer Chiefs), and we've been playing six away games in a row. It's good for us when we go back home now. Morale will be high,” added the Chippa coach.
