Marumo Gallants fired coach Dan Malesela and technical director Molefi Ntseki on Friday, as they negotiate terms with former Morocco international Abdeslam Ouaddou to take over.

A club statement said: “Marumo Gallants has released head coach Dan Malesela and technical director Molefi Ntseki following the club's struggle to improve its league standing. Currently 14th on the log with just four wins from 17 matches, Gallants is looking for a fresh approach.

"The club appreciates their contributions and wishes them well in their future endeavours.

“In the interim, Assistant Coaches Sundra Govender and Duncan Lechesa will oversee the team while the process of appointing a permanent head coach is finalised. Discussions are underway with Moroccan coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, who has arrived in South Africa to conclude discussions with the club.”

Ouaddou dramatically quit as coach of the Congolese club AS Vita after they were beaten by Stellenbosch in the African Confederation Cup in October.

He announced his resignation at a press conference straight after the match at the Cape Town Stadium.

The 46-year-old Ouaddou played for Morocco in the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations final where they lost to hosts Tunisia and his club career took in stints in the Premier League with Fulham plus at Nancy and Stade Rennes in France and Olympiakos in Greece.

Malesela’s dismissal follows Gallants’ loss on Wednesday to champions Mamelodi Sundowns, where they led at halftime but were eventually beaten 3-1.

Ntseki is the former Bafana Bafana coach who was also technical director and coach at Kaizer Chiefs.
