Milford maintain top spot in Motsepe Foundation Championship

Despite an inconsistent run of results in the Motsepe Foundation Championship recently, Milford maintained their spot at the top of the pile this weekend, while Cape Town City slumped to yet another defeat.

Log leaders Milford could only manage a 1-1 draw in their latest Motsepe Foundation Championship assignment, a result that came off the back of a 1-0 loss to Kruger United during matchday nine.

Sitting on 20 points after 10 matches, their lead was preserved as a result of Casric Stars picking up a 0-0 stalemate with Gomora United on Sunday. Casric currently occupy second spot, one point adrift of the league summit.

Elsewhere, Highbury returned to the winning column on Saturday, following their 2-1 win against Upington City at the Mxolisi Dicky Stadium, with the latter suffering their first home defeat of the campaign.

As it stands, Highbury ended the latest game week in third place on 18 points, with Upington in fourth on 16 points.

Over at the Mafori Mphalele Stadium, Cape Town City recorded a 3-1 loss against Baroka FC, which happened to be their fourth defeat in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The former Betway Premiership side are now 14th on the standings, one point from the bottom two places which is occupied by Midlands Wanderers and Baroka respectively.
